Sprouts Farmers Market Expands Presence in Virginia

On May 12, Sprouts Farmer’s Market, based in Phoneix, AZ, opened its second location in Virginia. The new store, which occupies 26,000 square feet of space, is located in Manassas, Prince William County, in the 250,000-square-foot Manaport Plaza. The national retailer signed a lease with Finmarc Management, a real estate investment and management firm which acquired the shopping center in 2019.

Sprouts Farmers Market is known for having a large produce section that occupies the center of each store, with a selection of fresh, seasonal options supplied by local farms. The retailer, which has nearly 400 locations nationwide, focuses on providing communities with healthy products made from natural, organic, plant-based and gluten-free ingredients, as well as an array of dietary supplements, natural personal care products and more.

A ribbon cutting ceremony took place the morning of the grand opening, followed by a weekend of activities such as games, face painting, seasonal produce tastings and more.

“I am thrilled for our Prince William County neighbors to gain Sprouts as a community resource to fight food insecurity and offer those with special dietary needs local and healthy food options,” said Michelle Davis-Younger, mayor of the City of Manassas. “Sprouts’ Healthy Communities Foundation and their partnerships with local food banks offer vital regional support to providing nutrition education and food access to under-served areas. Sprouts’ proximity to the City of Manassas with its new location on Sudley Road will undoubtably have a positive effect on our community.”

Sprouts Farmers Market works with local farmers to source its produce, according to the company. Through its Sprouts’ Food Rescue Program, the Manassas location will donate groceries that are edible but no longer fit for sale to the Capital Area Food Bank, which provides more than 50 million meals to people in communities across Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
