The combination of Boswellia serrata (gum resin from the Frankincense tree) and Zingiber officinale (ginger) extracts offers a unique approach to improving sleep quality by addressing everyday aches and pains, especially in aging individuals.
“Achieving restorative sleep is crucial, as it has a direct impact on alertness, cognitive function, mood, energy levels, and overall health,” said Seth Flowerman, president and CEO of PLT Health Solutions. “Unfortunately, a majority of the population struggles to get sufficient restorative sleep.”
The introduction of this ingredient into the sleep supplement market comes at a time when Future Market Insights projects significant growth, with a preference for natural and clean products.
Targeting pain for restorative sleep
The theory of restorative sleep emphasizes the body’s need to repair and replenish cellular components during sleep, addressing functions that are depleted during waking hours. Many essential bodily functions, such as muscle repair, protein synthesis, memory development, and emotional regulation, occur during sleep.
PLT leveraged its Boswellia serrata extract, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, to target aches and pains, a key factor in improving sleep quality. The extract has been used in various health platforms by PLT, including joint health, respiratory health, and bone health.
Previewing the Serezin science
PLT conducted a four-week study on Serezin, a combination of Boswellia serrata and other ingredients, in 60 healthy individuals aged 50-70. The study showed improvements in restorative sleep and reduction in aches and pains within one week of supplementation.
By day 14, participants taking Serezin experienced significant improvements in falling asleep and sleep quality compared to the placebo group. By day 28, they reported reduced nighttime and daytime discomfort, along with improved mood. These findings emphasize the importance of feeling rested and refreshed for a good night’s sleep.
