PLT unveils ingredient for optimal muscle health, mobility, and vitality

The Strengthera Muscle Maintenance + Vitality formula is promoted for its potential benefits in joint, muscle, cartilage, and bone health, targeting mobility solutions and healthy aging platforms.

“As we age, it becomes increasingly difficult to build and maintain muscle mass, making muscle health vital for successful aging,” stated Seth Flowerman, president and CEO of PLT Health Solutions. “Strengthera is a breakthrough product that supports strength, endurance, stability, and mobility, ultimately enhancing independence, vitality, and overall quality of life.”

Utilizing the same botanical combination as the company’s RipFactor muscle accelerator product, Strengthera has been clinically proven to activate mTOR, inhibit catabolism, enhance mitochondrial metabolism, and boost endothelial nitric oxide synthase.

An extensive clinical study targeting individuals over the age of 55 demonstrated improvements in muscle strength, endurance, and physical function in both men and women.

Expanding the Benefits

PLT recently shared insights from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluating the effects of Strengthera on a group of 92 healthy men and women aged between 55 and 70 over a 12-week period. Subjects consumed 650 mg of Strengthera daily alongside an at-home calisthenic exercise program, with assessments conducted at baseline, 4, 8, and 12 weeks. Key measures included muscle strength, endurance, mobility, lean mass, and muscle quality. Findings indicated significant improvements from as early as four weeks, attributed to enhanced mitochondrial efficiency.

Jennifer Murphy, director of innovation and clinical development at PLT, highlighted the importance of grip strength as an accurate indicator of vitality, muscle strength, longevity, and future health.

The Aging Female Athlete

Speaking at the NutraIngredients-USA Sports & Active Nutrition Summit, Dawna Salter-Farfan, PhD, RD, senior manager of clinical research at PLT, discussed the significance of supporting older female athletes facing challenges such as decreased physicality, fear of injury, joint pain, muscle loss, and weight gain. She emphasized the need for solutions targeting inflammation and muscle protein synthesis disruption, like Strengthera, to help women maintain an active lifestyle despite natural aging-related muscle loss.

“As we age, it becomes increasingly challenging to maintain muscle synthesis, so it’s crucial to incorporate proper diet, resistance exercise, and dietary supplements like Strengthera,” noted Dr. Salter-Farfan.
