Algarithm Ingredients and De Wit Speciality Oils join forces for expansion in Europe

The collaboration between the two companies aims to provide European infant formula, supplement, and food companies with a variety of neutral-flavored, sustainable, and transparent algal-based omega-3 lipids.

Using the foundation laid by the partnership between Thai Union Ingredients and Algarithm, De Wit will expand the global presence of Algarithm’s ingredients.

With expertise in omega-3 and omega-6 rich oils for various industries, De Wit, based in the Netherlands, has been manufacturing and distributing ingredients across Europe and beyond for two decades.

De Wit’s UK-based subsidiary, New Holland Extraction Ltd, specializes in oil extraction from seeds, offering processing capabilities for a wide range of raw materials through various methods.

Gertjan de Wit, Director of De Wit Speciality Oils, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that the partnership with Algarithm enhances their offering to customers by providing efficient, secure, and sustainable omega-3 algae products in Europe.

Algarithm, a leading producer of plant-based omega-3 ingredients from micro-algae, focuses on creating a stable and versatile portfolio with an undetectable taste for a pleasant consumer experience.

Their ingredients are certified by various organizations worldwide, including The Non-GMO Project, The Vegan Society, Health Canada, and the European Food Safety Authority.

Ben Kelly, President of Algarithm, is excited about the partnership with De Wit, as it enables the distribution of a differentiated plant-based ingredient solution throughout Europe, expanding Algarithm’s reach in the market.

Partnerships

Algarithm attributes its success to strategic partnerships with brands that share values of transparency, traceability, and consumer satisfaction.

Earlier this year, Algarithm signed a multi-year manufacturing deal with seafood giant Thai Union Ingredients, leading to collaboration at TUI’s global omega-3 R&D center, increasing capacity and scale.

TUI’s investment in a new omega-3 oil refining factory in Germany allowed for the production of pure Omega-3 oils, enabling Algarithm’s growth in supplements, food, beverage, and infant formula categories.

In October 2022, Algarithm partnered with Natures Crops International to introduce two new omega oil blends for supplement, food, and beverage use, offering vegan options with modern omega-3-6-9 solutions derived from regenerative agricultural practices and fish-free DHA.
