Partnership between Brightseed and Botalys focuses on sustainable sourcing of bioactive botanicals

The companies have announced a strategic partnership to combine their expertise in rapid bioactive discovery and premium botanical cultivation. This collaboration aims to supply partners in the cosmetic, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries with customized and consistent bioactive plants and ingredients.

“We are excited to partner with Botalys, whose advanced cultivation techniques perfectly complement Brightseed’s capabilities in rapid bioactive profiling and discovery,” said David Brown, vice president of business development at Brightseed.

“Together, we aim to set the standard for cultivating health and wellness by providing consistent, sustainable, and traceable plant sources.”

Biomimetic Indoor Farming

Botalys, known for working with industry giants like L’Oréal R&I, operates a 40,000 square foot vertical farming facility. Here, rare medicinal plants are grown hydroponically using Biomimetic Indoor Farming, a climate-controlled method that replicates ideal conditions found in plants’ natural habitats.

Brightseed and Botalys will utilize Brightseed’s Forager AI platform to optimize the bioactive expression of Botalys’ plant supply.

Developed by Lee Chae, PhD, co-founder and CTO of Brightseed, the Forager platform identifies natural bioactives and their connection to human health benefits. So far, Forager has mapped over seven million compounds from plants, fungi, and bacterial strains across 23 areas of human health.
