Whole Foods Market (Austin, TX) announced a new shop format designed to provide a more convenient shopping experience for customers in urban areas.
The new format, called Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, will launch at 1175 Third Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in 2024. Other locations in New York City will soon follow.
The new Daily Shop format ranges between 7,000 to 14,000 square feet, making them about a quarter to half the size of traditional Whole Foods Market stores, providing proximity to dense, metropolitan areas, the company said.
Whole Foods Market Daily Shops provide a convenient option for grab-and-go meals and snacks, weekly essentials and quick ingredients for meals, according to the company. Although smaller, the stores will still offer a wide range of items including fresh produce, meat, seafood, sandwiches, pre-packaged meals, bread, alcohol, supplements and a plethora of local specialities and 365 by Whole Foods Market.
“At our new store formats, we’re tailoring every square foot to the unique, fast-paced needs of urban lifestyles,” said Christina Minardi, executive vice president growth and development at Whole Foods Market & Amazon. “We’re excited to introduce a new way for our customers to quickly pick up their Whole Foods Market favorites—from grab-and-go meals to that last-minute dinner ingredient—making the early morning or after work grocery trips more efficient and enjoyable.”
The new format will not replace traditional Whole Foods Market stores, the company said.
