CRN and Radicle Science Create Trailblazing Woman Award

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), a trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, and Radicle Science (San Diego, CA) partnered to establish the Trailblazing Woman Award, the nutrition industry’s first award to honor achievements of women in the wellness space.

“We’re very excited to announce this award during Women’s History Month. These are the very women who are shaping both the history and future of the industry–and this impacting consumer health in meaningful ways,” said Pelin Thorogood, co-founder and chairwoman of Radicle Science. “Considering more women use supplements than men, it’s critical to support female leaders in the industry and help close the gender gap that currently exists.”

The award will recognize a woman who has shown brilliant leadership, mentorship and commitment to the industry. Criteria includes spearheading initiatives to increase women’s presence in executive roles, breaking barriers, fostering diversity, advocating for women’s empowerment and contributing to women’s health research.

“CRN member companies are leaders in the dietary supplement and functional food space, committed to the highest quality standards and ethical best practices to provide consumers with products that are safe, beneficial, and essential to their health and well-being,” said Gretchen Powers, vice president, marketing and member experience at CRN. “This award will honor the excellence of women within these companies who have elevated the industry through their work.”

Nominations are open through Sept. 13 exclusively for CRN members. A panel of judges, three from CRN and two from Radicle Science, will review the nominations and select five finalists. CRN members will then vote anonymously for the winner.

The winner will be announced in October and receive a $2,500 grant which can be used for leadership, board training, mentorship opportunities and career development. The winner will also be featured in a Fast Company article and will have opportunities to appear in webinars and talks organized by Radicle Science, CRN and other partners.
